Brown Rice Recipe

A brown rice recipe has become easier to locate over the past few years as people have begun to try to return to more organic foods.  A brown rice recipe has a different flavor than a recipe containing white rice.  Brown rice contains more vitamins than white rice and is higher in fiber than it's lighter colored counterpart.

Brown Rice Recipe Ingredients

• 1 cup brown rice
• 2 1/4 cups water (2 1/2 cups if it's converted brown rice)

Brown Rice Recipe Directions

In a 1 - 2 quart saucepan, combine rice and water.  Over high heat bring the water to a boil.  Reduce heat to low, cover with a tight fitting lid and simmer until all the liquid is absorbed and the brown rice is tender.

The cooking time for a brown rice recipe is approximately 40 minutes.  After cooking, let the brown rice sit for 2 minutes, covered, before fluffing with a fork.  Double the sitting time to 4 minutes for a brown rice recipe with converted brown rice.
